The glazed glass hair compartment on reverse (a circle closed glass or rock crystal back bezel) is uniquely faceted, locket portion of the pendant is secure. Beautiful repoussé work. Exquisite hand-etched etchings. Master Craftsman detailed scroll work with undulating pretty swirls. These are becoming so hard to find and are escalating in price daily. During the early and late Victorian periods use of turquoise in fine jewelry was highly desired and most popular. With (3) sculpted and carved smooth cabochons of genuine, untreated, natural Persian turquoise (the color of sleeping beauty turquoise) you can rest assured this stunning one-of-a-kind piece took many days if not weeks to hand design & masterfully create.

Not a brooch, there are no stamped marking however tested of at between 18K and 14k gold. Possibly 15K. Most likely an English or French antique this piece has a nice ring bale which remains in place to slip a chain through if you prefer to add it to a necklace. The stones are not paste they are genuine gems.

Condition: FINE CONDITION as you can see. No defects or dents to it's surface that we can see. Sometimes these rare pendants held a mourning keepsake or small photo; front and back are in excellent overall condition with expected variations in color to the stones shapes since they are each completely hand-crafted pavé-set turquoise.

* LENGTH: 3/4 inches = (18mm)(2 cm) in total length including the bale enhancer which fits into the top "O" fitting.

* DEPTH: slightly over 1/4 inch in depth = approx 6MM depth
