Rare Authentic nearly Georgian/Victorian Era Ring! Silver is quite shiny,

smoothly polished and bright. Gemstone is silky smooth to the touch with

a luminous glossy finish. Beautiful natural Coral!

This gorgeous Victorian, solid French 800 silver & Coral ring dates to circa

late 1800s - early 1900s. It is difficult to be completely precise in judging

the age, due to it's hallmarking. However the style appears to be from the

early to mid Victorian era. Sardinian Coral is the finest.

HALLMARKS: Featuring two hallmarks, a 'Crab' hallmark and another

maker's mark with initials or letters which we cannot make out.

SIZE: Between a 7.5 and 7.75 - Very comfortable.

GEMSTONE: Fine Coral 10.5mm Width x 4mm Depth

ACCENTS: Fancy filigree open work that rotates around the entire ring.

Unique open underside done in a Georgian style holds the mounted gem

securely in place. Gorgeous milgrain (mil grain) detailing (see enlarged photos).

The elegantly faceted rock crystal gems literally sparkle just like diamonds.

Vibrant and bright pastes are brilliant with no discoloration.

The crab hallmark was used from 1838 to 1961 by the Paris Assay Office.

French hallmarking dates all the way back to the 13th century. Since 1838,

an eagle's head had indicated a gold purity of at least 18 karat gold and the

boar's head or crab mark is stamped on articles with a minimum fineness

800/1000 of silver. These three major hallmarks are the utter most utilized

hallmarks present on fine French jewelry. The quality of this design reflects

that provenance.

This ring is extremely comfortable to wear. As, the designer contoured the

piece to fit the finger well. The deep orang-ish red of this finer coral design

complements every complexion and would add elegant style to any wardrobe.
